Rita Slater

Rita Slater was born in Warrington 1959. Living in Liverpool since1988 she has studied BA Fine Art at Liverpool John Moores University 1999-2002 and MA Fine Art at Manchester Metropolitan University 2003-2005.

Influenced by a professional nursing career spanning almost 25 yrs Rita Slater makes sculpture using familiar everyday objects. Often using reclaimed domestic furniture these objects are instantly recognisable. Familiar yet unfamiliar our perception of their ordinariness is altered evoking a human quality almost poetic in nature that extends beyond their traditional function.
