“Many of my paintings tend to paint themselves! Much of my work
revolves around visual language. I use visual figures-of-speech
(mixed metaphors, contradictions, palindromes and clashing clichés)
to describe the real and imagined.
Usually I start with an idea and then translate it into an image,
drawing from memory rather than observation. Hopefully the visual
poetry and humour undermines function, common sense and expectation."

The Liverpool Carousel - Limited Edition Print (250)
|
| The Liverpool Carousel stands on Pier Head. The image was painted to celebrate Liverpool’s past present and future. The galloping horses have been replaced by children’s rides based on Liverpool’s maritime, rail and cultural icons.
Alfred Holts Blue Funnel ships sailed from Liverpool to Australia, China, East Indies and India.
George Stephenson’s steam locomotive, the Rocket Famously, the Rocket won the Rainhill speed trials, travelling at just over 30 m.p.h.
Liver Bird struts centre stage on the carousel and between its beak, a shamrock, a reminder of Liverpool’s Irish heritage and community.
The yellow submarine follows the Liver Bird. Although more famously linked to the Beatles, many submarines-grey ones usually-were built on the Mersey.
.............and many more. |

The Trojan Lamb Banana Of Liverpool - Limited Edition Print (250)
|
| In the dead of night the clocks of the Liver Building are twinkling and
the people of Liverpool are fast asleep. All of a sudden a yellow door
on the side of the Lamb Banana opens; a red ladder is pushed out and a bunch
of scaled-down copies of itself are released among the Corinthian and Ionic
columns of the Walker Gallery and St. George's Hall.

Meccano Liver Bird - Limited Edition Print (250)
|
| The Meccano Liver Bird stretches its multi-coloured feathers
and looks out over the Mersey. Through its steely screwed eyes,
it watches as large sheets of metal and rivets go gently floating by.
The Liver Bird - born, bred and assembled at the Liverpool Meccano factory -
has seen everything; everything but its twin standing at the other end of
the Liver Building and facing in the opposite direction.

Liners - Limited Edition Print (250)
|
| It was a tricky operation squeezing them along Water Street - just a few inches on either side. Had to replace a few damaged traffic lights and a bus shelter, but on the whole, the docking went very smoothly. Several dry docks had been excavated in advance, and the lifting gear had been brought in from Garston. A large crowd of well-wishers applauded when the last of the propellers were concreted in and the champagne bottles were broken. |
